At Variegated Plants Circle, we take exceptional care in sourcing, packing, and shipping every rare variegated plant we sell. We want every customer to receive a plant they are thrilled with — and we stand behind every order with a clear, fair, and honest return and refund policy.
Please read this policy carefully before placing your order. Because we sell live plants — perishable, living organisms — our return and refund terms differ from standard retail policies. This policy is designed to be fair to both our customers and to the nature of the products we sell.

Our 30-Day Live Arrival Guarantee
We offer a 30-day live arrival guarantee on every plant we ship. This means that if your plant arrives in a condition that is not viable — dead on arrival, severely damaged due to transit, or significantly different from what was described — we will make it right.
We define “making it right” as one of the following, at our discretion:
- Replacement — we send you a replacement plant of the same or equivalent variety
- Store credit — we issue store credit to your account for the full value of the affected item
- Partial or full refund — we issue a refund to your original payment method where replacement or credit is not appropriate
What Is Covered
The following situations are covered under our return and refund policy:
Dead on Arrival (DOA)
If your plant arrives completely dead — with no viable tissue, roots, or growth points remaining — we will replace or refund the item in full. Photo evidence of the dead plant and its packaging is required within 48 hours of delivery confirmation.
Severe Transit Damage
If your plant arrives with severe physical damage clearly caused by transit — broken stems, crushed or destroyed root systems, or extensive irreversible leaf damage — we will assess the damage from your photos and offer an appropriate remedy. Minor cosmetic leaf damage that does not affect the plant’s viability is not covered under this clause.
Wrong Plant Delivered
If you receive a plant species or variety different from what you ordered, we will arrange return shipping at our cost and send the correct plant. Please photograph the plant you received alongside its label or packaging and contact us within 48 hours of delivery.
Significant Pest Infestation on Arrival
If your plant arrives with a significant pest infestation that was not disclosed at the time of sale — spider mites, mealybugs, thrips, or similar — please photograph the pests clearly and contact us within 48 hours. We will assess the situation and offer an appropriate remedy.
What Is Not Covered
The following situations are not covered under our return and refund policy. Please read these carefully before ordering.
Live Plants Are Non-Returnable
We do not accept physical returns of live plants. This is standard practice for live plant retailers worldwide and reflects the perishable nature of the product. Plants cannot be returned and resold — their condition changes too rapidly in transit and in varying care environments for a return system to be practical or safe for our plant stock.
Normal Post-Arrival Adjustment
It is completely normal for a plant to show signs of transit stress in the first 1–2 weeks after arrival. This may include:
- Temporary wilting or drooping
- Loss of one or two older leaves
- Temporary stalling of new growth
- Minor yellowing of lower leaves
These symptoms are a normal response to the stress of shipping and typically resolve within 2–4 weeks when the plant is given appropriate care. They do not qualify for a return or refund claim.
Decline After the 48-Hour Reporting Window
Claims must be submitted within 48 hours of delivery confirmation. We cannot process claims for plant decline reported after this window because:
- Plant condition can change dramatically within days based on care conditions
- We cannot determine whether decline occurred during transit or after delivery
- It is not possible to fairly assess responsibility once the plant has been in the buyer’s care for an extended period
Please inspect your plant immediately upon delivery and contact us right away if there is a concern.
Incorrect Care After Delivery
If a plant declines or dies due to incorrect care after delivery — overwatering, insufficient light, incorrect temperature, pest damage acquired after delivery — this is not covered under our policy. We provide care information with every order and through our blog. Following this guidance is the buyer’s responsibility.
Variegation Variation in Chimeric Plants
Chimeric variegated plants — including Monstera Albo Variegata, Philodendron Pink Princess, and other chimeric varieties — are inherently unpredictable in their variegation patterns. No two leaves are identical and the level of variegation can vary between leaves and between growth cycles. This natural variation is not a defect and does not qualify for a return or refund. Product listings describe the general variegation pattern and type accurately — specific leaf pattern at time of delivery cannot be guaranteed for chimeric varieties.
Customs Seizure or Delay Damage
We are not responsible for plants seized, damaged, or destroyed by customs authorities. While our phytosanitary certificates significantly reduce this risk, customs decisions are outside our control. We strongly advise buyers to research their country’s import regulations before ordering.
Extreme Weather Damage
In the event of extreme weather conditions at either origin or destination that cause damage despite our thermal packaging precautions, refunds may not be available. We do our best to prevent weather-related damage through proactive packaging and, where necessary, delaying shipment — but we cannot guarantee against all weather eventualities.
Change of Mind
We do not offer returns or refunds for change of mind purchases. Please research your chosen plant carefully before ordering, including its care requirements, light needs, and variegation characteristics. Our blog and contact page are available to answer questions before you commit to a purchase.
How to Submit a Return or Refund Claim
If your situation falls within our covered categories, here is the process for submitting a claim:
Step 1 — Inspect Immediately on Delivery
Open your package as soon as it arrives. Do not leave it unopened overnight. Live plants can deteriorate rapidly inside packaging.
Step 2 — Document the Issue
Take clear photographs of:
- The outer packaging (showing any damage to the box)
- The plant as received, before removing any packaging
- The specific issue — damaged areas, dead tissue, wrong plant, pests
- The roots and root system where relevant
- Any documentation included in the package
A short video showing the condition of the plant is also helpful and always welcomed.
Step 3 — Contact Us Within 48 Hours
Email us at sales@variegatedplantscircle.com with:
- Your order number
- Your name and delivery address
- A clear description of the issue
- All photos and/or video documentation
- What remedy you are requesting (replacement, credit, or refund)
Claims submitted more than 48 hours after delivery confirmation as recorded by the carrier’s tracking system cannot be processed.
Step 4 — We Assess and Respond
We will review your claim and respond within 2 business days of receiving your documentation. In most straightforward cases, we respond and resolve the same day.
Step 5 — Resolution
Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, we will offer one of the following:
- Replacement plant shipped at no additional cost to you
- Store credit for the value of the affected item, valid for 12 months
- Partial refund where the damage affects part of the order
- Full refund where a full refund is the most appropriate resolution
Refund Processing Times
Approved refunds are processed within 5–7 business days of our resolution confirmation. The time for the refund to appear in your account depends on your bank or payment provider:

If your refund has not appeared within 14 business days of our confirmation, please contact your bank before contacting us — processing delays at the bank level are common and typically resolve without intervention.
Partial Refunds
In situations where a plant arrives partially damaged — some viable tissue remaining but significant damage present — we may offer a partial refund proportionate to the extent of the damage rather than a full refund or replacement. We assess each situation individually and will always explain our assessment and reasoning clearly.
Cancellations
Before Dispatch
Orders cancelled before they have been packed and dispatched are eligible for a full refund. Contact us immediately at sales@variegatedplantscircle.com if you need to cancel. We process orders quickly — cancellation requests submitted more than 24 hours after ordering may not be actable if the order has already been prepared for dispatch.
After Dispatch
Once an order has been dispatched and tracking has been activated, cancellation is no longer possible. The order is in transit and cannot be retrieved. If you no longer want the plant upon delivery, it cannot be returned — please see our live plant return policy above.
Damaged Packaging on Arrival
If your package arrives visibly damaged by the carrier — crushed, torn, or showing signs of rough handling — please:
- Photograph the damaged outer packaging before opening
- Photograph the contents as you find them
- Note the damage with the delivery driver if possible
- Open carefully and assess plant condition
- Contact us within 48 hours with your documentation
Carrier damage claims require evidence of the damaged packaging as well as the plant condition. Photographs of the outer box are essential for carrier liability claims.
Our Commitment to Fair Resolution
We approach every claim with the goal of finding a fair resolution. We are a specialist plant retailer — our reputation depends entirely on our customers receiving excellent plants and excellent service when something occasionally goes wrong.
We do not look for reasons to decline legitimate claims. If your plant arrived in poor condition through no fault of your own, we will work with you to put it right. Our policy boundaries exist to protect both sides of the transaction fairly — not to avoid responsibility for genuine issues.
If you feel your claim has been assessed unfairly, please respond to our resolution email explaining your concern and we will review it again. We are committed to getting these decisions right.
Consumer Rights
This policy does not affect your statutory consumer rights under the laws of your country of residence. Where applicable consumer protection legislation provides rights beyond those described in this policy, those rights remain available to you.
